What a way to spend Friday nite. Me, a used Pinpoint PH meter, new cal. fluid, and a bottle of rum! Took me over an hour to recalibrate it. (Maybe it was the rum?) Jumping back and forth between the two fluids to finally achieve 7 and 10. Waiting 3 minutes between adjustments worked the best. Love the meter. I was surprized to see the difference between the meter numbers and my test kit though. I posted previously about a drop in PH and thought things were on the rise again according to my test kit. The meter tells me otherwise. Anyone had any experience with the cal. meter as this would be my next purchase.

PinPoint pH monitors are very useful and reliable. I really like the one we have. If it took you that long to calibrate it, it's likely the probe is at or near the end of its useful lifespan. A replacement runs $40 - $50, depending on where you look. Calibration shouldn't take much more than 10 minutes.

As for the calcium monitor, I've heard they aren't as reliable and require much more attention to get consistent and accurate readings.

I just bought 2 Pinpoint pH monitors and they're still sitting in the unopened box in my kitchen. :D

Can't wait to try them out though. My next purchase is also going to be the Pinpoint calcium monitor and the cheapest I've seen them so far is on eBay.
