Pipes not fitting/ big lag bolts for stand?

I hate those butt joints. Don't get me wrong, they work, just fine. Just don't like them.

Hey RB..the pic was not for the joint, just so Rocket could undetstand the metal bracket i was "trying" to explain...and was not doing a very good job...lol
