Piranha size

piranha size??

i was at a friends last night.....

and hes got two what he thinks are piranhas,,,there were like 14\15" long...

i didnt think they got that big???

It depends on the species. I think piraya are said to get up to 22", rhoms between 18-20", and another large species.

I'd put 100 bucks that he's got red belly pacu, not red belly piranhas, they look strikingly similar, and they even have teeth like the piranhas! Except they're not as sharp, and is mainly vegetarian, and oh, they get up to 2 feet.

If it has an overbite and small lower jaw it is a pacu. If it has an underbite and muscular lower jaw it is a piranha.
