I've been researching a lot about Piranha's latley, and to start off I'm not an expert, but as I've been reading recent and old post(s) about Piranha's on this forum, I figured I'd add my two cents and clarify a few things. The Serrasalmus nattereri, otherwise known
as the Red Belly Piranha, usually is the most common Piranha to be found at Pet Store or anywhere for that matter.

On the other hand the Serrasalmus rhombus is usually confused with the Black Piranha which is the Serrasalmus niger, while the Rhombus usually has more of a white stint then black(The White Piranha, somtimes called). A lot of people even argue that a true Black Piranah and exsist and in fact a lot of people who owned these so called "Black Piranha's" came directly from the wild as mid-adult, seeminly making them way more agressive to a Piranha being raised in a aquarium.

Piranha's are unpredictable fish, but never the less incredible.
