Pitbulls attack a bull

Here's an interesting note:

Sunday, October 9th, a woman in Colorado was attacked by a her own dog, and hospitalized with several serious wounds to the face, neck and chest. It was a 30-second spot on the news. The word 'mauled' was never used, though the description of her wounds was pretty much on par with past reported dog attacks that were described as maulings.

The dog that attacked? A sheppard she'd recently purchased for herding stock.

Here's a site with statistics. If it's not true, then get a Mod to deleted this, but I have not been able to disprove it....

I think it's important to include this:
While at times informative, statistics on fatal dog attacks can also be misleading. For example, a number of cases were a Pit Bull, Rottweiler or GSD were counted as causing a human fatality were in reality the direct result of gross human negligence or criminal intent (i.e. discarding a newborn in the yard where the dogs were kept, or cases of extremely emaciated animals, or cases were the dog was ordered or encouraged to attack the victim).

This study was conducted not to determine which breeds of dogs caused fatalities, but rather to examine the circumstances and events that precipitated an attack. Knowing how many Pit Bulls or Rottweilers caused a human fatality has little applicable value, only when examining each case individually can we hope to gain insight into the HUMAN and CANINE behaviors that contributed to these tragic events.

Further, 481 people in 36 years. Sheesh--more people than that die each DAY from car accidents. Not to trivialize the individuals and families affected, but really--this is something worth legislation and ad nausem discussion?

I have to say the "leash law" is good.. If an owner violates it, then the wrath of lawsuits should be understandable.

Seriously, if you don't like it, don't read threads with "pitbull" in the title, it'll save you frustration.

Quite frankly, it's uniformed statments like this
They're Pits and they got what they deserved to protect the public
that REALLY push my buttons, but I try not to be rude about it like you just were, fishy.

"How many times must a man look up, before he see's the sky?
Yes and how many times must we argue about pits, before the subject just friigin dies?" I think that's how that song goes.

Thank you!
