Well, I took some of your advice and spoke to my LFS this afternoon. In short, we gave them our pl*co, and they said they would find a suitable place for him. I cried! lol I know I'm a softie, but knowing he'll go to better living conditions, I feel much better. Some other good things have come of this though. We now have a 33Gal tank to use for our 90Gal sump system, so that saved us money, and also we have a nice chunk of driftwood thats actually staying down to use in the 90Gal also. Which means we only need our lighting and one other piece of driftwood (of course plants and fish will come later) and we can start cycling the tank! I want to thank everyone again for the helpful advice! :)

That sounds like you made the right choice. If you choose a pleco in the future make sure to get a dwarf variety so you won't have to go throught he heartache of giving another away.

Oh definitely, I know. We're going to get one for the 90Gal, I don't think I could deal with giving another one away, too many tears with this one :)

A bristlenose is always a nice choice.

I'm a little confused.

If you are going to get ANOTHER pleco for the 90g ... why didn't you just keep the one you were so attached to? You could have kept him in the smaller 33g and cycled the 90g ... added the plec to the 90g ... then added the 33g to your 90g as a sump. I guess I missed something.

Oh well. Have fun with the big tank!

Because eventually he will get too big for the 90 Gal also. And we really needed the 33 Gal asap to get the sump setup. I know I could have kept him, but eventually I would have had to give him up once he got too big for the 90 Gal. Giving him away worked the easiest.

It is a sin that they sell the monsters as "common". Really it should be a hard to get pleco and far easier to get clowns and bristlenose and bulldog plecos. They will generally fit in much smaller tanks that are all too common.
