Ok this is gonna take a while and i dont think im gonna explain it properly.
Im getting an eheim classic 2213. I notice inside its just am empty space so i wondered if you can put in lose media without compartments/nets or anything to hold in in place. I know it wouldnt be adviseable because i will have to take it all out to gain access to the bottom but im willing to do that. Also my lfs have a deal for fluval lose media for the external filters. Beacause of this can i use fluval media in an eheim? I would very much like it so, as its cheap and i know about it. Heres a plan for my filter and its labeled for key points.I expect its going to have to have eheim sponge pads but thats ok.

The 2213 comes with a media basket that is inserted into the canister. Within the basket, there aren't dividers so you can arrange it however you like. The basket itself can be lifted out of the canister for cleaning and rearrangement. Are you buying it new or used? New, and the basket will come filled with media already:

carbon pad
fine filter pad
sintered glass bio-media
filter pad
ceramic rings
course filter pad

Im gonna get it off an ebay shop for like £40-50 and i'll make sure it comes with media. So just to clarify can i use any brand of media in the filter. Fluval etc?
