I have discovered that i absolutely have plant eating snails in my tank.
Originally i thought it was poor nutrients causing the holes in the plants!
What are my options:
1. i have tried leaving vegetable matter in there to pick it out with snails on in the morning, but no snails in the morning
2. i really do not want to use copper based treatment
3. i cant see the substrate as it is so heavily planted, so extensive gravel vaccing won't work
4. i could add loaches, but which are relatively inexpensive, wont uproot plants and fairly hardy?
Or is there something else i can do???

what type of veggies have you used?i wouldn't suggest adding fish or copper to solve the problem as the loaches will probably not be wanted after the snails are gone and the copper will leach into everything in the tank.Do you know what kind of snails they are or have a picture?if they are big enough i would just hand pick them out every time you walk by the tank and see one on the glass ETC

You could also try making a snail trap. I use a clean water bottle and stick a piece of cucumber in it. I put it in the tank at lights out and then check it a few hours later. remove and repeat. Which tank is this in?
