plant grow out tank.

wont be any fish in the tank. If anything living is in there it'd be pond snails. I'd grow out a big colony as food for the puffers.

you should grow out ghost shrimp too. Mine don't eat my RCS tho...

How many puffers are you going to put in the big tank, that should be a LOT of money if they cost as much as they do here. Why not breed them in the 10 and keep the babies to stock the 72 with. (after you've grown out a lot of plants)

I got a pair of them for my 10 now, thats moderately planted. the LFS only had 2 left from their shipment of 20 lol. It cost me 10.60$ for the two of them. If I can get them to breed that'd be great, if not then it's not a big deal to get more. As to how many, I have no idea as of yet. The tank is a 72 gal bowfront with a magnum 350 ( will have to get a sponge or something for the intake ). There is a LARGE piece of driftwood in there with many hiding places, then heavily planted on top of it. Maybe start with 10, my ratio would be 2 males and 8 females or 4 and of them and see how it goes.

this is the tank and the driftwood *NOTE the dp's wont go in till the O is gone*

Sounds good :) what's happening to Mr. O? :(

VERY VERY NICE WOOD, very nice
Thanks! I found a stump and hacked it up with a chainsaw. More work but cheaper and more rewarding than buying it :D

Nothing lol, it will become a dp tank when he passes on to the tank in the sky
He's had that tank his whole life, I wont kick him out now.

I wanted to get a jump start on plants, cause I know it'll take a while to grow them. If they grow too fast I have a few other tanks that need plants ( 30, 30long and a 180 )

How old is he? :P your just waiting for him to pass? Lol

he's only 2 years. That sounds horrible! I'm not just waiting for him to pass :(
If I just wanted the tank vacant he'd go in the 180. I like him in the 72.

I was bored at home and just thinking ahead for what I want and wanted to get started on getting plants ready

oh yeah, once he reaches 10" or so I think he'd be better off in a 180gal ( i have an empty one lol ), the 72 just seems too small then.

Oh okay :) that's great, to finally see a responsible Oscar owner :D
