Plant ID? Sunset hygro?

Swinging through petsmart today I found this plant. I think it's H. polysperma 'sunset', as it's stems are very similar to my H. Difformis. I've never seen H. Polysperma in person as it's illegal in CA, so I may be wrong. I picked it up hoping that some of the sunset hygro had been sent here on accident, and I might not find any again soon. The leaves are about 2" long.

There's another one at petsmart in milpitas if anyone else wants one in the bay area. They've also got SAE.

could be... there are other reddish plants it could be, there is a ludwiggia, glandulosa... a Nesaea species... rotala macranda...

all of these I found require high amounts of light to grow at all and even then is suggested that you not plant them to close together so as not to shade the lower leaves.

of the reddish leaves the one you think it is would be the most likely to grow in an aquarium... some are almost impossible

so what ever you have treat it like a primadonna and give it the best spot in your tank and let it stand alone if possible to have the best chance of it surviveing

Hmm

I've got 144W on a 55, so it should have plenty of light. I stuck it on the edge of a stand of H. Difformis that is about half the height of the mystery stuff, so it won't see any shade except for the very bottom leaf pair.

Aha!

This guy's grown in pretty well and now I can ID it as A. gracilis with fair certainty. Not what I was expecting, but welcome as it appears to be doing well. It also complements my didiplis well as they both grow in an X pattern.

Yep, I'd agree with Ammania. Didn't look like it at first though. Do you only have that one stem?

Nope

5 stems for $4. Pretty good deal for this stuff I guess as I've only seen it at albany aquarium and they want something like $8/stem. Of course there you know what you're getting though!

That one's just the prettiest of the bunch, the others are smaller, or have been nipped at by my rainbowfish. Once and a while he goes ape on a piece of plant (usually red, like L. repens) that's sticking into the open water area.

They must use the same distributor for all of Ca. They've got some in SOCAL too under the name of "Siamese Flying Fox".....as if their identification wasn't confusing enough as it is.
