plant loving cichlids

I have severums (they are the worst), firemouths, and synspilum.
But actually i was thinking of setting up a new tank with cichlids that don't eat plants, that's why i was asking.

some s/a wont eat plants:chocolate ciklid,crenicichla,for ex.
c/a are in my opinon harder, for ex veija, i had once i think it was V.bifacitum or maybe V.zonata, they eat up every well nown ciklidplant i put in,even a spathiphyllum wallisii they eat.Ihave some severum in a tank and they also eat plants(i hate them:D ).
You can also try some s/a "earth eaters" i have some, and they have never touch plants.

hi vilhelm,
I read that chocolate ciclhids are the most aggressive of cichlids, and they need plenty of free swimming space, and they like to dig a lot!!!!! i'm mixed up now.

are there any cichlids that grow to about 9" ,or there abouts, that like plants? (not for eating them!!!)
I would like to have a well planted aquarium, and nice average sized cichlids.
is that possible?
thank you.
Discus would work well. However, the tank temperature will have to be high, of around 86 degrees.

Hi ndru!
I never have chocolateciklid who act agressive, maybe we mean different species? of caurse most ciklids are more agressive when spawn, but the chocolate are very nice generally, mine dont dig or eat plants,a very kind ciklid ,big but kind.they get their food from the surfin in nature, like insect.

I agree with the blue acara part. they do dig when breeding, but they arent aggressive about it and only the plants with no gripping root system will be brought up.
