I think my cabomba stemlet is almost long enough to plant now. but, how do I go about this? I know with stem plants you strip off the leaves of 2 or 3 nodes and plant all that beneith the substrate. Is cabomba similar? it has been floating for a while so it has LOOOOONG roots coming from the bottom 4 "nodes". thanks!

You can go ahead an put it down. Yes bare about one inch of leaf above the roots. It's going to die anyway. Once it gets too tall, you will nedd to take 6=8 inch cutting from the mother plants and start the process all over again. I hope you do not have a lot of current in your tank as Cabomba is very delicate an like minimum current. What species of cabomba do you have?

I dont' know what species it is- the petland guy threw it in the bag with my ludwig for free :D its light green, so its not the brownish variety I guess
thanks for the tips

FYI. Cabomba will flower!. According to what species, they can have red, white, or yellow flowers. If yours flowers, let me know and I will ID it for you.
