I've got to the stage where I'm going to put my Vallisneria into my tank.

Don't want to put them in only for those pesky cichlids to pull them up.

What is the best method/solution to planting these beauts?

Substrate is sand.

Cheers.

What i would do is plant the Vals in your intended location and place stones or round rocks around near the roots but like what Squawk said if their Herbivores and if they really like them they may mow them down to the root and or just pull them up by their leaves..

I find my mostly mbuna stock will chow down on vallis non-stop - rocks etc around the roots will help keep them in situ, but the main prob I had was that after a couple of weeks I would only have stumps left. Good luck !
