so i bought my first live plant yesterday!! major excitment in the tank. i put it in my 5 gallon with tetras and shrimp. will the plant be ok with those fish?

also i want to put live plants in my 10 gallon, but i fear that the mollys and the ottos will just eat the plant, does anyone have any advice for plants in this tank?

i dont remember the name of the plant i bought, it was something like bopota, i dont know...something weird

Most tetras are plant safe, and will appreciate the cover it provides as well and the mproved water conditions. Otos are also very plant safe. I can't comment on mollies, though I've only ever seen them consume algae, not plants.

I've got mollies, ottos and lots of different tetras with a few different plants like hornwort or swordplants and they never pay any attention. Zucchini however gets the mollies excited. Kyle

Supplement oxygen, and remove ammonia/nitrates. Plants use the nitrogen from ammonia/nitrate during photosynthesis. Some plants are also good for removing metals and other minerals from the water. Doesn't replace water changes, but helps keep water from going downhill in between regular changes.
