I have two dwarf hairgrass plants in my 55 gal. tank. Every day there is about one or two pieces of the grass floating at the top of the tank. The plant appears healthy, its nice and green, i dont think the fish are eating it since it just looks like it is detaching itself. Is this normal?

i have a basic setup, lighting was standard with the tank, i will have to look up the specs, fish are angels, neons, corys, serpae tetras, black mollys, I do not have any ferts. for the plant. All parameters are normal, temp is 78, i have gravel substrate. I do not have Co2

Standard or stock lighting is not enough for dwarf hairgrass. It is a high light plant that appreciates CO2 injection and ferts. Its not healthy with that lighting and the shedding of the leaves means its dying. I'd take it out so it doesn't make a mess (with the leaves) or upgrade your lighting and provide the conditions it needs. :) It also appreciates a nutrient rich substrate.

I made a mistake, its a Dwarf Saggitaria......anyway what size lighting should i go too? also what should i add as fert. for the plant?
