if i were to get some kind of container and put some fish in it and buy a lot of hornwort and anacharis and put that in it, do you think that those plants would keep the water clean enough??? by clean i mean ammonia, nitrites etc... and if i did do that, do you think i should add soemthing for mechanical filtration also??

How small are you talking here? I would not go smaller than 2 gallon. I think so long as you do weekly or no later than every 2 weeks water changes in a 2-5 gallon bowl/tank it would be fine so long as it's not overstocked and has lots of plants.

I have raised bettas in a large rubbermaid container with just a sponge filter, worked great.

if i want to go w/o fish, will the plants grow really w/o any co2 (from fish or injected)?? and what kind of temps can the plants grow in?? i dont want to put fish in because i think it will get up to like 90, maybe even 100 in there

Most plants won't grow well in those kind of temps, even tropicals. A few selected species might, but I'd do some serious research first.
