I just tested my tap water and it's 8.0 PH at the sink.

What type of affects can this have on plants?

I've had swords, anubias, & misc other plants that totally thrive in my tank for 5+ years...Are some plants better in High PH than others? If so, what is recommended???

Most of the commonly available plants can/will adapt to water at that pH.
If the plants you've kept have thrived at that level, why are concerned?

A high pH reduces a plant's ability to extract trace minerals from the water. Most plants though will adapt to their environment much like fish and find ways to actively transport the nutrients they need. Your plants according to your profile are growing like crazy so I would not be concerned.
