Surely not... This guy was right in the middle of my sand bed just yesterday. Today I find that he is nowhere to be found. These things don't move do they?

Yup, they do move. Suprised me the first time mine moved in the middle of the night. Idk if they can move far enough in one night to the point where u can't find it, but mine has move a few inches in one night before. They will move to a spot of their liking depending on flow and lighting in your tank.

That's good to know. My rock setup has quite a few hiding spots that it must be in. Though I don't know why it would move to a spot that isn't even in the light...

I've noticed that occasionally things will either let go, or an invert will walk by them and dislodge them, and then the current can take them wherever...

Just as a followup, this piece of plate just now appeared from it's hiding place nearly a month later. I do not know if it is alive or dead. The white plate base is intact, but the orange flesh on top is extremely thin now and almost transparent. I put him in a nice open spot in the sand with plenty of light and flow in the hopes that he will recover.
