This may be a silly question. I have a 2.5 gallon, heavily planted, with one Sunset Coral Dwarf Platy and one Panda Cory (in the process of moving him into another tank with friends). At one point, I had brought home a male dwarf platy (the one I have currently is female). Within a matter of days, he passed away, apprently due to an extreme nitrite spike. Lately, I have been noticing that my girl is getting a round stomach. Is it possible that she conceived within those few days? Or perhaps she is just being overfed (I am feeding a small pinch once daily)? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i would say that at least 75 percent of the time if you buy a female livebearer at a pet store they are already pregnant....
If by chance yours was not pregnant, it is very possible that your male got to her in those few days... they dont really worry about getting to first or second base..... it is a grand slam every time with those fellas.....
