my girlfriend just got a platy and when she got him at the lfs he was fine but when we got him home we thought he was dead but at a closer look he wasent dead he was flotin all kinda different which ways adn after a while of beign in a little bowl he seemed better but as soon as he was put in the tank he started it again so we took him back out any ideas

Hmm..well I'm no expert but my question is..is the platy all alone?..maybe he's just in shock of being alone..platys are social fish and at the LFS they're all bunched in together so no lonely platys even when being transported, they're all placed in one container/tank..or it can also be the water (i.e. temperature/ph/nitrites/nitrates..etc.) :soda:
what kind of tank is it in? size? Hmm I can probably break it down in an analogy...just imagine you were at school, talking with friends and such..and then a teacher puts you in your own little room..it would be boring!..the fish are the same..they've got feelings and such..so if you have all the right statistics for an ideal aquarium and the fish still floats there..i'd suggest getting one more platy..hmm..well the more the merrier since they tend to copy what the other is doing. And everyone needs a friend. :D
