Platy's in Full Saltwater??!!

PPMN

Who could resist this face??
I was at my LFS yesterday and noticed they had about 5 platy's in a full saltwater tank (not brackish). There were coral rocks and a clownfish in there too. Is this right? They seemed perfectly happy.

No. Platys aren't even brackish water fish. They are freshwater. Those platies will die. They may live for a bit but not very long.

Are you sure they we not mollies??? Mollies can be acclimated to full marine set-ups.

No, they were definately not mollies they were platy's. They looked like this: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/images/tuxedo_platy.jpg I know a platy when I see one lol.

I was shocked. The people working were busy and I didn't get a chance to ask. I know they had just gotten a shipment in bacasue some fish were still in the box in the middle of the isle. (no the platy's weren't still in the bag, they were swimming freely in the tank.)
