Play sand?

what is the name/brand of pool sand you use.
 
You could also get a bag of 30 grit sand. This is what I actually have. It's basically playsand that is screened to have almost all of the same sized particles, which gives it the same desirable qualities of pool filter sand, but probably not as clean. Still needs a little rinsing but not as much as playsand.

That's okay. It happens!:) I got what seemed like the only bag in the county (at a local ma and pa hardware store). Apparently there's not a huge demand for pool filter equipment in New Hampshire in mid February. Who woulda thunk?:D
 
what color is the cloest to natrual sand anyways? Pics? Cause i dont want to go white, but the one with diffrent shades of tan looks nice.

the pool filter sand is rather whitish right out the bag, but let it age and it picks up color. I find the mix with fluorite a pleasing combination.
 
My favorite sand so far is Quikrete medium grade. I have no idea what its actual intent is, but I bought it at Lowe's in the masonry section. It's washed, screened, baked, sterile etc. All the pieces are essentially the same size, no dust and perfectly inert from what I've seen.

It's intent is to be used in masonry, that's why you got it in the masonry section. :duh:
