Hi everyone,
I have 2 pictus catfish and 1 Stripped catfish. 2 days ago my 2 pictus catfishes have got ich. I think so...they have white spots like grains of salt. I put salt several times with intervals with 4 hours to make it 1 t. spoon per gallon of water and raised the temperature to 81F. now it seems like the areas around fins of pictus became red. what is wrong and how to change it...
the amonia and nitrire are 0, the nitrate level is 4.
I do not know what to do....I am trying to help them, but maybe I do it wrong.
i have read topics and it is so different in each case. Number of people used salt/temp method, some medications and fish died or servived.

Thank you
P.S. I also put my thread into catfish part of the forum. I am trying to fing anybody who can help. ...sorry about my English or spelling mistekes, I am trying not to make them(I have just read "Sticky: Posting questions and getting help" from happychem )

This article covers things as well as I can. Pictus are the primary reason I've learned about ich. Just keep going as you are, I personally would increase the salt a bit more, and if you have plenty of circulation then go ahead and raise the temp some as well. But either way read the article first. The red at the fins could be any number of things, including good old fashioned stress from the ich. Keep an eye on it, but don't panic or get to anxious. It is far easier to medicate fish to death worrying about things than one usually knows.

keep doing what you are doing, but raise the temps up a degree or two a minute until you get to at least 88-90*, the ich cannot multiply, or live in that temp, leave the temp up for at least 6 days until you no longer see the ich
