my RCC died!!!!!:( i don't know why??? my ph was stabe at 7.6 it had a dry place to go to no changes were made to the water at all. the only thing i can think of is starvation, i didn't see it eat much.:( :( :( please help i don't like killing of my fish(and crab)

i think rcc means red claw crab. did he have a way to climb up on a stump and get out of the water from time to time? i think they need that for some reason.. i could be wrong.

i havent had any luck with crab . slightly better luck with crayfish.

yeah she got out everyday, infact every morning she was on my heater! i really like haveing a crab but i don't wont to kill any more so i want to know what i did wrong:(

I believe the crab was being kept in pure freshwater.

This is when some of us bite our tongues.

What kind of heater did you have?

did your crab have any eyes when you found it?
other fish could have eaten the eyes and it starved to death. That happened to one of my old fiddler crabs.

just a no-named brand temp is 76-78F

i was told that they were hardy enough to live in FW

yeah, my fish were scared to death of it(but after she died my CAE stared picking of her back)

I bought 2 RCC's in the beginning of Jan. Both are doing great, there in a brackish tank. How long have you had them? I could not find much information on these crabs so I made a web page on them to help others out.
