As the title states, I need help figuring out what size my tank is. It is 36in long by 12.25in wide by 17in tall and the glass is .25in thick. I was told it was a 29 gallon by the guy I got it from. The dimensions on www.glasscages.com say it is a 38 gallon tall in which the lady who I ordered the top frame for the aquarium backed up. When I put the dimensions in the AC tank volume calculator, it says it will hold 32.5 gallons. What gives?!

:help2:

Use a gal water jug and fill the tank up. Time consuming yes but you'll know exactly what it is

www.aqadvisor.com. Plug in the measurements and it will tell you the size of your tank. Says 32 for me. subtracting trim and glass width, its probably around 29-30 gallon long tank. Most tanks that are 36" long are going to be 38 gal, but yours has much less depth and height.

You have there a 30 gallon long. A 29 is only 30" long. A 38 gallon is about 20" tall.

On www.glasscages.com, they have their 38G Tall tanks listed as 36" L x 12.25" W x 17" T which is what my tank is. The pictures of their 38G Tall looks like my tank as well.

When I plug my dimensions into this, as stated in the original post, it says 32.5 gallons. What gives?! This is why I'm beyond confused.

glasscages.com is a custom, independant tank builder, their names for things may be different, and it might be a typo, because every single other tank size calculator/list I look up says that it is a 30 gallon long, and that a 38 tall is 20" tall.

Unless the height is filled height? In that case, putting 36" x 12.25" x 16" gives 30.59 gallons. Does this make it a 30 gallon?

This also makes me wonder if when I ordered a tank frame from GlassCages.com for their 38G Tall will fit. Should fit if the length is 36" x 12.25", right?
