I was watching my cichlids eat this am in my community tank. I noticed a movement at the bottom. It was a baby ( size 1/4") auratus ! :dance I had a a pair that had breed before. The female evidently breed, I found one baby. She died a bout 6 wks ago & the male soon after. They were the 1st I bought when I set up my tank awhile back.
I took out ALL my slate & fake coral to end up with a total of 4 ! I've got them in the same tank inside a breeder basket. I crumbled up some cichlid flake food & they pounced on it! Will this food be good enough for them?
My pair of M. chipokaes are starting to stay together. The male has moved gravel until he's got about a 4" diameter cleared all the way to the glass bottem in another tank. Their by themselves. I guessing this is a good sign.
I got one more question. I've got a normal albino pleco & 2 gold nugget / vampire/spotted plecos? They ALWAYS stay in hiding & don't eat the algee off the glass. What's up with that? I had a 8" normal/ regular pleco that stayed on the glass, which really helped with maintence with cleaning ! He jumped out & died . Funny thing is the only place he could have got out looked way to small for him to get through! Should I just get another regular pleco? I've got my tank escape proof now Thanks again for ALL of your replies. Everyone has been more than helpful.

For me, firemouths breed like crazy. I just got rid of 28 fry that was about 3" long from my last spawn. This time I left the fry in with the parents. I was suprised that this many survived. A few times, they ate the fry when they got ready to breed again. Sometimes I post the fish on freecycle and give them away.
