I'm a bad girl I know. I have a 55 gallon aquarium that DID house cichlids. Now it is a nice community aquarium. My pleco, which is about 9 inches, has been in the tank forever so I'm sure he is thrilled to have nice fish that won't pick on him. My husbands pleco, which is about a foot long, outgrew his tank so we put him in my aquarium. So now I have two very large plecos in my aquarium. (Temporarily don't worry)

Since the two have been together...mine has to be by the others side and be as close to it as possible. They show very strange behavior toward each other. They don't seem to be mean toward each other. Mine will suck on the glass next to his and get real close and his will push mine with his side fin. They act like they are playing with one another. What is all this about? I don't know that much about plecos.

Plecos can get rather territorial with others of the same species (read: PLECO) and can be quite aggressive toward each other, especially if they don't have enough space between the two of them.

They are both Common Plecos.
