What is the standard growth rate for a common Pleco?

I bought a Pleco for my 125g 8 days ago. He was 3 inches when I got him. Now he's 4 inches.

Will he continue to grow at this rate?

Plecos can grow pretty fast. A friend had one like yours that grew to 12" in a year, in a 20 gal tank.

It's almost an inch per week. I guess he might just be having a growth spurt due to being relocated to a bigger tank..

how fast a fish grows depends on several factors. including genetics and environmental.

good genetics with lots of food and clean water= growth.

I must be doing something right then..

I feed him algae wafers, but how many algae wafers should he get per day?

As they grow their diet tends to change. they will opt for shrimp flakes pellets etc.

as many as they will eat. if you see leftover wafers in the morning, feed less. or get started on fresh vegetables.

I use all kinds of squash - mine like zucchini and acorn squash the most. I also feed peas and green beans occasionally. Of course, some of my meat eaters i.e. L66 and L333 will not touch the veggies much but many of the others do not mine and occasional veggie piece. I feed a piece of fresh veggie almost everyday for my bristlenoses.
