In my opinion with africans I woudl go with
Gyrinocheilus aymonieri
They can hold their own and even make it to where... Aggressors do not want to tangle anymore. If you are going that direction
And even though they get large... It is kinda rare to see them past 7-8" in my opinion.. so it takes a good long while for them to get LARGE
