What do you feed your Oscar?

I am just curious to see what others put...I have been told several differant things like beef heart, crickets, live fish, worms, and of course pellets...My oscars only eat pellets for about 3-5 days in a row...I get them something out of the ordinary, like crickets (mine go crazy for it...I don't understand thier fasination...yuk!) and even more rare, feeder fish...What do you feed yours?

I rotate different foods along with pellets. The pellets are his staple diet though.

Hikari Cichlid Staple
Nutrafin Floating Cichlid Sticks
Nutrafin Max Sinking Food Tablets
Shrimp pellets
Crickets
Earthworms
Turkey heart and liver
Beefheart
Cocktail shrimp
Algae Wafers
Veggies.. Peas, Corn and Carrots.
Sinking Carnivore Tablets. (Meant for the Pictus but he likes them too.. lol)
Not to mention any flys or bugs found around the house.. depending on what they are.

I don't use feeders.. IF I raised them myself maybe. But I think there are better foods to use instead. Like Earthworms. My oscar goes nuts over them.

... Kitchen Sink...

:p

No, really, it's good for their diet!

I feed mine 5 differant kinds of pellets...Hikari Cichlid Staple Large pellets, Wardleys Cichlid Floating Pellets, Hikari Cichlid Gold Medium pellets, HBH Oscar Grow, and Life Science System Bio-Blend...but my oscars LOVE to eat things that move...I even tried mealworms...they didn't want to eat them at first, but then the mealworm squirmed and they gobbled them up... Crickets...omg...they go crazy and try to jump out when they see the bag...i haven't tried much else, because i have a horribly dirty oscar...if i pretend not to look she doesn't lose much out of her mouth...but if i do watch her, she makes the biggest mess in the world....she does it on purpose...cuz then i clean the tank and she likes to bite my fingers while i have the siphen tube going... I love her sooo much...

Now that's what i call a varied diet,
your oscars certainly won't get bored
at feeding time in your house.
CHEERS.

i dont got mine anymore but they loved lettuce and cheap aquarium plants, o any crayfish or ghost shrimp , off course take the clwas off the crayfish

I leave the claws on the crawfish. My Oscar eats them too.

I used to load my oscars' diets with protein (crickets/frozen blood worms or brine shrimp) but finally got them to take pellets as their staple. They go nuts for them. I switch between cichlid gold and cichlid bio-gold. Then they get a few pieces of freeze-dried krill and some live blood worms. They even eat the worms right off the fork! :)
I did offer them a bite of my cream cheese pocket yesterday but they just stared at it. ;)
