is there a formula for finding thickness for acrylic window? Approximately 400 gal. behind window that is 42"w X 20"h
Will be siliconed to cement wall on three sides with top exposed just above water level.
Anything below I believe does not matter.

the real trick is making sure the window is adequately supported around the perimeter. the edges ans seals are more likely to fail than the panel itself

a supporting rim on the outside is MUCH better than trying to seal it on the inside surface

What is the pond made of? Concrete? I used a fabricated steel frame on the inside of the tank, cast into the concrete wall of the tank as shown below. Then the glass was fixed to the metal frame with normal silicon like you would use to build a glass tank. I just used a lot of it and squeezed it well and kept the pressure for a couple of days. The idea is that the water pressure will push the glass pane against the frame. So the more water depth you have, the better the seal.

The metal frame was primed with zinc-rich primer suitable for an acrylic paint. Then 3 layers of acrylic paint that is uv resistant. I explained to the guy what I need the pain for and he advised the exact type of paint.

The glass in the picture is 1.8m wide x 0.6m tall (70"x24")

The OP hasn't been on here since 2019 so I doubt you'll get a response.
