I have had this particular goldfish for about 2 weeks. At the moment he is in a 40 gallon tank with 1 other goldfish. In the past maby 5ish days, every time I go and check on them hes always bottem sitting, but when ever I put his regular food in the tank he starts swiming like nuts to get all the food he can. I havnt noticed white spots that would indicate ich so far, but I think there might be slight cloudyness on the verry edges of his tail, the size of the small spots havnt grown and the tail hasnt begune to get shreeded. A few days ago I did about a 30-40% water change and he is still bottom siting.
Any ideas?

I concur. With the behavior of the fish tere is something going on. I'd add some salt anyway, all my goldies have salt.

Treat for internal parasites. These are common in many goldfish. I routinely had to do this with goldfish additions when I kept them. Unfortunately unless you spot these parasites in the poo they are very difficult to diagnose.

Keep a very close eye on the fins. Goldfish are also prone to septicemia (bacterial infection of the blood). A parasitic infection often leads to this. If the fish has internal parasites that you don't treat for, you'll end up repeatedly treating for septicemia as the fish slowly deteriorates (happened to me when I was first starting out).

Due to the general deplorable condition most goldfish are in at most stores it's a pretty safe bet the little guy picked something up.

He unfortunetly passed away yesterday :(. I think it proably had to do with the ich in the tank and I think he ended up having some sort of other parasite.
