I currently have in my 29 gallon tank:
1 dwarf platy
1 zebra danio
1 cory catfish
1 pleco (the variety than is supposed to only get 6")
3 balloon mollies

I would like to add, and need advice on if this is ok:
3 dwarf platies
1 zebra danio
1 cory catfish
2 dwarf gourami (both males, if advisable)

and possibly some swordtails, or something else that would swim in the middle.

Does this sound like a good, balanced community? This is my first tank. Thanks!

you need more danios, platies, and cories, since they are schooling fish. get at least 4 more dainos, and maybe 2 more platies. and at least 3 more cories. they are all schooling fish (except the platy, but IME they really aren't happy alone.), and are most likely very stressed from not being around their own kind. and you rpleco is most likely a bristlenose pleco. they do fine alone.

don`t put in 2 male dwarf gourami!no room for a pecking order just one big bully.either 1 or 4 or more.once they establish who is first boss second boss third boss on so on they should get along okay.l
