Hello all! I am aquascaping the new 5g hex in my office....and am interested in using small clay pots to create a cave/pass-through system for my fish. I will probably silicone them together to create some height, since the tank is taller than it is wide.

I would like to see pics of your clay pot arrangements! Ya'll help me out here....I'm trying to be crafty..and provide my soon to arrive friends with lots to do and explore in their little home.

Those are great! Thanks........

What do you think of my idea of using silicone to stack two or three small ones? I will remove the bottom of one, make a larger hole in one, and plug the hole in the bottom one with silicone. I'll probly even make it two wide for stability.

Sounds like a good idea. Just make sure the silicone you use is aquarium safe.

I'm not sure if you can rub the 'joins' with sandpaper or something. I have found long term (I'm talking 1+ years down the road) silicone on such a very smooth surface came apart. Held great on rougher joins.

Well....I got them done this weekend. I'll post pics tomorrow. Hubby used his drimmel tool to cut the pots....this works GREAT....especially if you boil the pots first. They cut VERY easily.
