I have 2 senegal bichirs: one is exactly like the one on the second pic, and is 3½" inches long. The other one is totally albino, with his huge red eyes. It's 4" long.

I love fish that eat living thing. I also house in there two FW stingrays (pictures in my sig) and a Clown Knife.

Those are my 5 carnivore fish.

Unluckly I don't have a camera right now. :(

aqualung the half beak is really neat what does that eat? the lfs that I was at the other night had celebes half beaks they are real pretty looking, could you tell me some about them maybe?

wildcats - the one in the picture is the silver form of the celebes halfbeak. Many halfbeak species are brackish water fish, but the celebes is a freshwater variety. They max out at around 3" in length, and although they prefer live food they will accept everything from small feeder fish to flake. Their favorite food is fruit flies, and I like to culture the hydei variety which are flightless. They need plenty of surface area and floating plants (or tall plants that reach the surface) for cover. They are livebearers, but are much more difficult to breed than many other livebearers. They tend to be sensitive to ph changes and require excellent water quality. Hope that helps some, and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

Give me tips on how to get good closeup pics with a digital camera and I'll gladly show off my Senegals.Flash,no flash, red eye flash,etc...I have 3 size pics I can take do i take best quality and shrink it or worst quality?

I believe I have a male and female, don't know if you can truely tell this early(3.5 inches or so) but one is definetly thicker than the other.

I just got my digital yesterday so Im still very new to it... I use flash and take the picture at an angel that way the flash does not bounce back... If there is a button that looks like a flower or w/e that is your macro button click that and than take the picture. i than used my camera to zoom in and crop out the rest of it... the second two pics of my bichirs are actually from one picture

Those bichirs are awesome wc, and I love the aro too. Some day when I have more and larger tanks I hope to get some big predators like those!

Getting good pics just takes a lot of patience. Take as many pictures as you can and try out different techniques, and eventually you should get some decent pics. For me, I found that I got better pictures using the flash with the tank lights off. The one of the halfbeak is poor quality, but is the best I have of those fish. I just got a new camera to play around with, so I might have some better quality pictures to share soon.

thank you, they are just babies a the moment but i can not wait until they get larger. Both of the Bichirs are roughly 3-4" and MJ is roughly 6-8". the aro is in a 75g for now and the bichirs are in a 20g long both of which are being used as grow outs until I can afford a larger tank.
