Posting on really old threads

Anybody else find it completely hilarious when somebody posts in a thread that is really old? Seems like there have been alot lately. So a little suggestion for when you are browsing through posts from the back pages and you want to post: look at the date first. That way you don't have to make yourself look silly by posting on a thread that is 2 years old.
 
Rarely does a post thats more than 2 PAGES old get my attention, let alone 2 years. Sometimes though, there are those threads with polls. All the polls show up on the homepage. Even if they are 50 years old (ok the site hasn't been arround for 50 years, but you get the point. Perhaps the poll you make tomorrow will show up here in 2056) It's inevitable that someone posts a reply to the poll, it gets pushed to the top, and someone has to comment on it without looking at the date.
 
it actually shows that people are using the search function instead of just posting new threads asking the same stuff, then they have replied to the thread after forgetting it was old.
either way its funny yet shows people are using the site.
 
Pardon me, but most of the forums I know get irritated when people constantly make threads for the same questions, over and over. Somebody posted a solution about a drip water change method because of sensitive Neons. This is valuable information to me. Unfortunately, nothing was explained about exactly how to do do this. Should I recreate a new thread when I come across pertinent information that stopped short of How To?

Just because a thread is old, does that mean it expires? Is there a rule that says a thread over 30 days old is unofficially locked and has no value?

Go ahead and laugh if it makes you happy. /shrug Actually I haven't figured out what it takes to make the vets here happy...
 
What I mean is when people post giving advice to people about their fish on a thread that is more than a year old, and the original poster has not been around in forever. It has been happening alot lately and I find it kinda funny. There is nothing wrong with asking questions though.
 
Neon...don't worry about making the "vets" happy.

Feel free to post and ask, as you see fit. The board is for all members. Fresh perspectives are great. :cool:
