Am considering getting a 24/7 digital power center similar to the zilla or the coralife. These can be seen here:

I will be taking about 3 extended vacation by the end of the year and is easier if I use something like this to keep lights regular, filter and heater going, etc...

Before purchasing though, I thought I would try and get some input from you folks here regarding these and if they can be relied upon? Is one brand better than another? Do any offer any warranties that if their product fails and fish die, that they will restock your tank? Any other input on these?

Thanks much!

I considered those things for about a minute, then went out and purchased 4 timers for about $6, already had power strips. Just as MG said, timers and power strips is all you need...it's a cheaper option and, in my opinion, gives you greater versatility.

But by the time you buy decent power strips and timers, aren't you still at about $30? I have seen both of these models on eBay for $26. I figure $8-10 each for the power strips and $4-6 each for the timers.

I am also curious about teh relaiablity and insurance on these types of things? Anyone own any of them? Is this the general concensus of the group?

I have a digital Coralife. I got one in a DFS order when they were on sale for $24.
All my other setups are power strips and peg timers.
It's ok for a single tank setup. It does have a battery backup to save your timer settings.
As far as warranty, it's a typical electronic component warranty.

The problem with the corlalife timers is that, at best, it's only two timers. Out of the four slots at that times, they alternate, so only two are on at once, and those two come on at the same time.

I bought these, and then decided not to use them because I need to be able to time CO2, 2 lights, maybe an airstone, and maybe a dosing pump all independently.

I haven't found a cheap solution yet.

So the Corlalife has 8 outlets. 4 which are on all of the time, 2 set to one time on/off and then 2 set to another time on/off. Seems simple enough. Would plug the heater and filter into the ones that run all of the time. Lights into on one timer, and then air pump on the other timer. Seems it would work fine with that setup. No?

Sounds fair.

So are you going to run your lights and pump at the same time or completely opposite?
