Can anyone direct me to a thread or website that compares or reviews commonly available (in the U.S.) power filter brands? I purchased the Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel 150, then saw user reviews claiming that it stops, or doesn't start, etc. It'd be great to have one place that compares various brands, to help me decide.

Also, any opinions on using two power filters for my new 20g long tank? I was planning to transplant my current 10g power filter, then add the Penguin 150, to increase circulation and "split" the biofilter in case one fails. Is this a good plan, or a waste of time?

Are you keeping the 10 gal operating?

...provided the flow doesn't cause issues, the more the better....

When i had a Piranha tank in the past, i had 2 power filters, undergravel filter, and 2 powerheads all going on it, only because i know Piranhas like a good current.

Anyways, my 55g tank right now has 2 power filters, undergravel filter, and an external canister filter on it.

I'm not sure. Want to keep it for quarantine, but also want to use the filter to seed the new tank. I'll probably let the 10g slide, and re-cycle it later.

mega dittos...the more filtration the better. Please don't forget the reverse ugf option! RE: reviews, it may be more helpful to just post 6 brands/models that you are interested in and ask about these specific items.

If you go with hob power filters, 2 of them would be a good idea on a 20 long ...............:)
