How do i know if my powerhead is moving enough water to be effective?

Effective for what? Generally, powerheads are added for extra current, many times to keep solids suspended so the main filter can suck them up. If there are less solids in the gravel, then the powerhead is working. Is it working enough for you? Only you have the answer to that one.
