I have been trying to find somewhere to tell me how to pre-wash the sand before I put it into a tank. The only method I read was running water into a buket. I am not sure how to do this, but is there any other methods to use? thanks.

Just put some sand in the bucket (only fill it maybe 1/3 full) then blast it with the hose so the sand gets really stirred up. Before it completely settles, pour off the dirty water, which will contain lots of dust and fine particles. Repeat, repeat, repeat. When the water clears quickly after stirring up the sand, it's ready to go in the aquarium.

you can do this a bit more efficiently with a clean wheelbarrow, but the process is basically the same. Easier to pour off the dirty water!

This is the stuff I used. I filled a 5 gallon up almost half way, ran a hose into the bucket and stirred the sand with a plastic rod. I did it for about 5 minutes each time, not much dust or particles at all. I was pleasently surprised. Very clean and looks great.
