Hello all...

Last night I found one of these (or at least what I think was one of these) on the side of my tank, near the surface on the glass, of all places:

http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/picture_pages/faq_heliacus.html

"This snail is a nocturnal predator of zoanthid polyps and should be removed."

To be safe, I removed it. Strange thing is, it was out with the lights on. On the glass.

Guess my question is this; if I found one, do you all think there's a good chance there are more? Also, I thought I had examined my polyps really well for exactly these guys. Are they like other saltwater snails in that they don't reproduce well in a reef tank, that their eggs/offspring will become part of the floating food chain? I hope so. Anyway, thanks for any input anyone can offer.

There are evil snails, like pyramidellids, that will reproduce in tanks, but none of my books mention the life cycle of heliacus. Sorry. If you can take a photo, Ron Shimek may be able to identify it for you.
