hi, i have 2 aquatic frogs (dwarf african?), and, i've had them about 2/3 weeks.. i noticed a while, one of them got a little fatter than the other, and s/he floats a lot better. i have looked for information on them, but, i cant find anything about it. i think it may be pregnant, but, how do you tell? any information would be helpful, thank you!

ADF lay eggs--no pregnancy involved. You can differentiate male/female by looking at their bum--the girls have cleavage, boys don't. Females can get a bit heavy when they have eggs inside, but the most noticable cue will be the croaking--the male will sing to convince her to let him fertilize the eggs.

Yah. Sexing can be difficult if they're still small. However, because most LFS's keep them underfed/starved, the butt "bone" on the females can, unfortunately, be fairly easy to see. Males lack this protrusion. Also, males have what look like white "bumps" or pad (kind of like a pimple) behind their front arms.

What you are probably seeing is just a happy, fed frog. You can really see a frog's stomach expand after a meal. This is how I gauge when it's time to feed them. Round stomach = no food. Flat stomach = food time:)

HEY! Thank you *so* much!! That was very helpful, so, I do believe I have a male and a female.. Mebbe babies? :p

This is my tank, i wish i had a better camera. The betta is in his cup, recovering from a bad case of ich. Take a look!
