Pregnant Guppies Dying

I set up a guppy breeding tank about 6 weeks ago and put 4 females and 1 male guppy in it. 2 of the females got really big over the past week or so and I thought any day now I would have fry. When I checked on them this morning 1 was dead and the other lying on her side just barely moving. The other 2 look fine but are pregnant aswell, just wondering if there is anything I can do to help prevent this from happening again.

Thanks.

The ph is 7.0, nitrates 0, ammonia 0, temp 78C.

Same Problem

I had almost the same problem. I had three females and one male that I use for breeders for feeder guppies. After the second set of fry all the females died, yet the male remained. No I have been waiting for the fry which are almost full grown to take there place and breed. Couldnt figure out why they died, all I could think of was that since they where pregnant they could easily stress and die and something must have changed in my tank and they were toast.
