she keeps swimming around really fast when i'm doing a partial water change. I leave her in the tank, but I just scoop the water out of the tank, then I gently pour the new dechlorinated water in. could she be near birth?

She will start looking really "squarish" in body shape and if you have any males in the tank with her they will start really "sniffing" around her gravid spot as they are trying to get in first for the next fertilisation..this is a pretty good sign.. everytime I have seen my boys doing that my females usually drop within a few hours. ..

yeah my guppy female flips out when i go over to the tank, she hides and runs away if i move fast . . . but she doesnt eat at the top much soo i definitly know shes pregnant and almost ready . . . guppies are stupid . . . lol but i like them anyway

Yeah when I had guppies they were very squirmish near birth. I noticed that they also would swim up and down in the tank it was weird. But I was never home to know that I had babies born and then a week later I see little babies in the gravel

When my female guppies are right about to give birth they pick a protected area of the tank, usually in the plants, on top of a piece of wood, or in the gravel and hover there. They just seem to stare blankly and stay in one spot, sort of just wagging in place. Their bellies become square-shaped a day or two before birth. I've been lucky enough to witness guppy birth a few times now.

I haven't noticed them actually laying on the bottom, except when they're sleeping. They're cute when they're asleep. Take a look in the middle of the night after the lights have been off for a few hours. :)
