???Pregnant Neon???

Does any one know how to tell if a Neon tetra is pregnant? One of mine has been hiding in the same spot under my driftwood for the last 3 days, and only comes out when I feed them. Then "it" darts right back to its hiding place. It is not harrased by any other of my Neons, or my gourami. Thanks for all your help.

Neon tetras are egg-layers. Sometimes the females... which are plumper than the males... get kind of antisocial. I have one that hides a lot so that the males won't try to make her spawn.

Unless you have a great environment setup for breeding them (which most likely wont happen by chance) I'd say there is little chance that its pregnant.

my mollies did that... and then died (most likely from high nitrite levels). Just figured I'd chime in.

Well my nitrites are at 0 ppm. Also the neon I was talking about seems to be slightly gorged (light at the end of the tunnel.... ) lol Oh well.

My neon is gorged also. I have sis. Did you ever get an answer or do you have babies or what? possum
