I have 4 Zebra Danios in my 20g tank. Over the pased few days one of my fish has been getting really fat. He is now almost 2x what he used to be since I got it. Could it be pregnant?
how did it end up, was she really pregnant?
i bought 6 zebra danios today, active little rascals
was wondering, how do you differentiate between the males and females?
Remmy - males are slimmer. Females look more like a comma, males look almost the same thickness throughout. Females who are ready to breed will get very chubby - I think they look like little striped tadpoles - as they fill with eggs.
I had danios many years ago, and they bred in the tank - one day there was frantic activity at the top of the tank, I had no idea what had them so excited, and a few days later I noticed the fry wiggling around on the gravel! I'm not sure what would happen if there are other fish in the tank - in my case the danios were the only fish (I was a teenager, buying my fish a bit at a time as I could afford them)
I found a picture that shows the difference by searching Google images, hope it helps
I had danios and one got real fat. I thought it was pregnant, but it wasn't. Then I thought he was just a healthy eater, but that wasn't the case either. I turned out that my danio got so fat it burst! I've been told it was due to constipation. It is a good idea to feed those little guys some peas.
