I have recently acquired from a friend the following bulbs for my tank lighting on my 55 gallon
  • Flora Grow 40W 2,800K
  • Life Glo 2 40 W 6,700K
My question is: Is this enough light to provide for a wide spectrum of plants?

Also, I have a friend that said he would give me some hornwort, java fern, and amazon swords to start out......would they be ok with this lighting and just dosing some flourish complete? I don't have the money to do CO2 yet but just wanted to start simple and see if I have a green thumb. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

The hornwort and the moss will grow...albeit slowly. You'e looking at about 1.5 wpg...not terrible, but not enough to grow a lush underwater forrest.

Just be patient, as it will take a long time for your plants to grow. Not sure about the swords...I would think that they need a bit more light to thrive.
