preying mantises

Leave the top off your compost bin, sneak up behind it and then WHAM, a bag full of bugs.
 
thanks, but when the eggs hatch will they need food right away? how am i supposed to get the food in time?
 
theyll need to start eating immediatly.. you should start looking for ways to catch bugs as soon as you can, so that way at least you know where to look when it comes time for them to eat.
 
Yes, aphids would be fine, plus you can feed the mantids (young mantises) flies, very small caterpillars, mosquitos, or any soft-bodied insect...

ok so the mantises have hatched and i put in some aphids but the mantises are just ignoring them, how much do you think the flies might cost?
