problems with Red Sea Prizm

I have the water control valve all the way closed and still the waste tank is filling up very fast aquarium only set up for a week does anybody have any ideas

hey. if it is a new skimmer then you have to wait for it to break in. and also it might be that you have alot of surface algae(or dirt) or something and it is sucking it in. I stopped my skimmer cause i added some medication for the cyno bacteria i had, and after 48 hours of leaving the skimmer off i turned it back on the waste box over filled twice with water collecting all the stuff on the surface. So yeah it might be one of those two.

Another thing that helps with skimmers is to strip it down and give it a good scrub in warm soapy water and then rise is loads of cold water..Its usally the maufactures film on the plastic parts that inhibits skimming..BAck when i had a prizm, i had the same problems as you...scrubbed it as above and within a few hours, it was working 200% better...
