Has anyone ever, or know someone who has, participated in product testing? You're supposed to be able to keep the products *Free* as long as you fill out a survey. I believe there are some sponsor offers you have to participate in also.

I'm curious as to if this is some kind of scam or something.

Yes, my husband and I have considered it, but don't want to get caught in a money issue.

Different kinds of things. iPods, toys, electronics and such.

It just seems too easy. You get to keep the stuff for free, after doing the survey, but you have to earn points also. I believe it has to do with the sponser offers you get.

I've done a few different product testings. Most are for low cost items, no big deal, but kind of fun to get to play with new/cool gadgets. For higher dollar amounts, even if it's just the cumulation of many smaller products, you have to report those as income on taxes. Otherwise, no big deal. I'm a member of an online survey group, and have to group memberships (one for gardening and one for cooking) that have members test different products and write a review that's published in a magazine.
 
If you're referring to the ones advertised in SPAM, I'd strongly recommend against it. They're often part of phishing or some other sort of scam and become very popular around the holidays. Unless you manually type an address into your browser, there's no guarantee that you're submitting your information where you believe you are; script injection vulnerabilities make hyperlinks, address bars, and otherwise safe webpages completely untrustworthy almost regardless of your browser.

If you're sure they're a legitimate company and can find other people who have successfully worked with them, then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't go anywhere near it (though it is sooooo tempting).
 
These were websites I found while doing a search for something else: Christmas toys.

I just wasn't sure.

I think paranoid is the word you're looking for. I do that too. :)

A while back I signed up with a couple of those paid-survey sites. I only get screeners regularly from one of them and have only been selected for a survey once. I don't think too many are interested in my demographic. :)
 
I signed up for a survey group awhile back. This one placed you in a pool to win $10k after every survey that you took. One of them paid me $15, just got the check in the mail last week. Kind of cool but I haven't seen a survey from them in awhile. I would be skeptical of the spam 'product' testers. I started to fill one out (never finished it once I figured out that you have to purchase other stuff to get points) and used my gmail account and it grabs about 100 spam messages/day now.
